Japan
A global pharmaceutical company partnered with us to conduct a quantitative HCP study focused on EGFR awareness among HCPs in Japan within the context of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The research was designed to measure both unaided and aided awareness of EGFR as a biomarker and therapeutic target.
The study recontacted healthcare professionals who had participated in an earlier phase of the research, allowing the client to build on an existing respondent base through a short online quantitative survey. This created a focused view of EGFR awareness in HNSCC without extending the research beyond its specific awareness objective.
The Challenge
The challenge was to measure how familiar HCPs were with EGFR in the context of HNSCC, including both unaided awareness and recognition when prompted. The research also needed to build on an existing HCP audience from an earlier phase of the study, making continuity with the previous research an important part of the exercise.
Key areas of focus included:
Unaided EGFR awareness among participating HCPs.
Recognition of the EGFR biomarker and its role as a therapeutic target when prompted.
Re-engaging healthcare professionals from the earlier phase of the study.
Capturing the required measures through a short online HCP survey.
Maintaining consistency with the existing respondent base throughout the recontact exercise.
What We Did
We designed a focused online quantitative recontact study among HCPs in Japan who had already participated in an earlier phase of the HNSCC research. By returning to an established respondent base, the study could concentrate on a specific measurement objective while preserving continuity with the earlier research.
The study included:
50 completed quantitative surveys.
HCPs recontacted from an earlier phase of the research.
A Japan-based respondent sample.
A Japanese-language online survey.
An approximately 2-minute HCP recontact survey built around a focused measurement need.
Questions measuring unaided EGFR awareness in relation to HNSCC.
Aided recognition of EGFR as a biomarker and therapeutic target.
A concise survey structure centered on a clearly defined awareness objective.
The approach allowed the client to build on an existing HCP audience and capture targeted quantitative measures around EGFR awareness without extending the study beyond its core research objective.
The Impact of Research
The research provided the client with a focused measure of EGFR awareness among HCPs while making effective use of an already established respondent base. By separating unaided recall from prompted recognition, the quantitative HCP study offered a clearer view of how EGFR was understood within the HNSCC context.
Key outcomes included:
A quantitative measure of unaided EGFR awareness among participating HCPs.
Aided recognition of EGFR as a biomarker and therapeutic target in HNSCC.
Continued insight from HCPs who had already participated in an earlier phase of the research.
A consistent respondent base that supported continuity between the earlier research and the recontact exercise.
Focused quantitative data around a clearly defined awareness objective.
A concise view of EGFR that could add to the client’s understanding of the broader HNSCC research landscape.
By building on an existing HCP audience, the study allowed the client to extend the earlier research with targeted quantitative measures rather than starting with a new respondent base.
